The target audience for this required 90-minute webinar is child welfare social workers, supervisors, program managers/administrators and directors employed in County DSS agencies. This presentation recaps the changes to law, policy, and practice during the prior state fiscal year. The presentation explains the changes to legislation in the following areas that impacted NC child welfare policy and practice between July 1, 2020- June 2021: Plan of Safe Care (POSC), Practice Guidance for LGBTQ+ Youth in Foster Care, Psychotropic/High-Risk Medications in Child Welfare, and NC Child Medical Evaluation Program (CMEP). This webinar also explains how critical thinking connects to policy and best practice with families, and provides access to links and resources with additional information on each law and policy change.
